This episode was very good but also very tough for Jason to speak about. He reveals something to Ben that a lot of people don't know about him.

Ben also talks about somethings in his childhood/early adulthood that changed the man he is today.

Join us for some deep conversations about our legacy and atheist churches.

Get your AMEN's ready as we discuss an article about being a recovering hypocrite.

Laugh along as Jason shares about how hard it is for him to stop interrupting.

Be encouraged as we share the story about a sanitation worker mentored by ex-cons who went on to graduate from college thanks to his employer, and even spoke at his graduation.

Oh, and there's a certain level of awkwardness as we play a new game called Toast or Roast. Ben had to do a roast of his boss, and a toast to a slow fast food worker.

After hustling hard towards the end of 2018, we needed a break from each other. Ben and his family escaped to Chicago the day after Christmas, but he and his wife had differing ideas of fun! Hear about what caused a near panic attack and how Ben made it right with his family, and other tales of highs and lows from Ben & Jason.

Happy New Year! I hope you all are enjoying the holidays with friends and family. I(Jason) had an amazing Christmas and Ben and I are excited for 2019.

We recorded this episode a few weeks ago but are just releasing it now. This episode doesn't follow our normal format, but a lighthearted but meaningful conversation about God, the church, and dealing with the hurts/pains/frustrations with the church. Ben had made a connection on Facebook with David Tisma. David was a former pastor at 2 churches and has a lot of insight on religion and the current state of the church today.

He also records his own podcast, but is currently on a hiatus. You can check it out here, An Open Letter.

**Long Episode warning** We had a our first guest in studio - Tyler Baum! Tyler is a very smart young man and brought lots of great insight to the show. Oh, did I mention he is our first super fan? He came up with the name of "Threadie."

Quick recap of things we talked about:

  1. Ben's son made a new friend after Ben encouraged him to hang out with "good kids."

  2. Jason puked in the bushes while waiting for the kids to get on the bus.
  3. Tyler enjoying the holidays with the family.
  4. Ben lost his patience with daughter (again.)
  5. Jason lacking an "attitude of gratitude"
  6. Tyler botched wife's b-day
  7. Lauren Daigle & a lack of discernment among American Christians: Lauren received some hate for being on the Ellen show and answering a question about gay people. Lauren is a Christian singer who is gaining traction in the mainstream music scene.

We recorded this episode a few days after Thanksgiving, so we spent some time discussing what we are thankful for. We also talked about telling our kids that Santa is not real. Ben confronts Jason on the way he exaggerated and made Ben feel inferior. Ben and Jason share about how they are learning how to respect each others’ space in their friendship -- a friendship that began in early 2018.

Here are some of the items we discussed:

In our last two episodes, we swam out into the deep end and tackled the topics of mental health and fatherhood. These shows had a pretty big impact on our listeners, so we felt like we needed to spend some time wrapping up some conversations and reflecting on your feedback.

As we did that, we also revisited our old trusty show format of sharing our highs and lows from the last two weeks. Enjoy!

On this episode, we focus on the theme of fatherhood. We share about our dads, and talk about the kind of dads we want to be. We discuss the impact that absent fathers have on their families and talk about how our dads’ parenting styles impacted us. We also took into consideration what happened in our dads’ lives that caused them to parent the way they did -- or didn’t.

We close out by sharing some “dad tips” that will hopefully inspire you to be a better dad (or mom!)

Here are some of the items we discussed:

Children’s well-being goes hand in hand with Dad’s mental health

The importance of roughhousing with your kids
